Have A Smith & Wesson 617? Here’s the S&W 617 Speedloader To Use

The Smith & Wesson 617 is one of the most respected revolvers out there, especially among .22 LR revolvers. If you’ve got one, you know why. But here are a few extra pieces of information you might not know.

The History of the K-Frame: According to Smith & Wesson’s site, the K-frame that the S&W uses was created in 1899 to carry the S&W .38 Special cartridge. The K-Frame is still in use for your 617 as well as the current .38 Special.

A Select Club – Not many companies have tried a 10-shot 22 LR, but the Smith & Wesson 617 isn’t alone. Ruger makes the Single-Ten and there have been a few others over the decades, but all-in-all it’s a very small club.

Don’t Dry Fire It – While some revolvers have no trouble with being dry fired, the 617 seems to be especially susceptible to damage from dry firing. Just don’t do it.

It’s Expensive! – Well, if you own one you probably already know that. But at $829 MSRP, it’s certainly one of the (if not the) most expensive 22lr pistols ever made. Most people who use it realizes that it’s fully worth it though.

We’ve Got More For It Than Just Speedloaders: We also carry Smith & Wesson 617 speed holsters, for both the 6-inch and the 4-inch barrels.
