4 Tips New Shooters Need To Know About Competition

As you’ve probably noticed, we’ve been talking a lot about competitive shooting. Here at Speed Beez, your source for speed loaders and holsters, we also carry everything you’d ever need for competitive and recreational shooting. Today we’re going to discuss 4 tips new shooters need to know about competition shooting.

  1. Never assume. One of our first recommendations is to read the rule book of the sport they are shooting. If you are a new shooter, don’t make assumptions until you attend a match and watch and speak to the shooters. After that, you will have a much broader understanding of the sport and what your next steps should be.
  2. Control your nerves because managing pressure is very important in a live competition. You need to learn how your body reacts to high pressure situations and discover ways to remain mentally tough and physically strong.
  3. Ask for help when you need it! When you hit a wall and don’t seem to be improving, it’s okay to ask for help. Many experienced competition shooters love helping the new, less experienced shooters. Learning from those who have accomplished things you wish to achieve is more valuable than you could ever imagine.
  4. Adapt! As is the case with any competitive sport, it’s important to be able to adapt and change. If someone gives you a piece of advice, you shouldn’t be so stuck in your ways that you don’t listen. It only takes a small adjustment to make a world of difference in competitive shooting, so listen up and take notes.
