Here at Speed Beez, we carry everything you’d ever need for competitive and recreation shooting, from speed loaders to gun belts, moon clips, and revolver sights, we have a great inventory of products that will have you shooting and reloading faster than ever! Today we’re going to talk about getting into competitive shooting. We know that starting something new can be intimidating, especially when it revolves around fire arms and a revolver, but today we’re going to start our series about how to get into competitive shooting.

Firstly, you’re going to need to decide what type of match you want to shoot. We are going to primarily focus on action pistol type matches at they’re the most popular.

Holsters

We do not recommend that you go out and drop a lot of money on new equipment when you decide that you want to start shooting competitively. However, there is one caveat to that statement: we do recommend that you buy a good, standard style holster before you start. When we say standard, we mean either a paddle or a regular belt attached holster. When you’re considering your holster purchase, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Will it take two hands to draw the pistol?
  • Will it take two hands to reholster the pistol?
  • When I reholster the pistol, will i have to point the pistol at any part of my body that I don’t want to lose?

If you find yourself answering yes to any of these questions, the holster you’re considering isn’t the right one for competition.

In our next blog post about competitive shooting, we’re going to cover what you need to know before heading out and shooting your first competitive match.
