If you’re accustomed to walking around with a revolver, whether you’re simply around your property or exercising your concealed carry rights, you might think that the five or so shots that you have on you might be enough. After all, what situation is going to require more than five shots, since you’re such a good shot? Well, let’s take a look.
Divide your accuracy in half (at least!): We all like to think that we will have no problems staying calm in a situation involving gunfire. But the fact is, unless you’ve had previous experience as a police officer or were in combat, most of us will be too nervous to move. And when we do, we’re not nearly as accurate as we are on the firing range. Having a speedloader pouch or full moon clip will give you twice as many chances to help resolve the situation.
Stalling the assailant: If you do get in a situation where gunfire is exchanged, you might have no interest in actually shooting the assailant. But if they are cornered, having a speedloader ready in your pouch will double the time that you can fire warning shots, giving the police time to arrive and take control.
An animal: Gunshots aren’t going to scare off every animal, especially if it’s sick. If you don’t know it’s sick, you might waste two shots just trying to scare it off with the sound. When you realize that isn’t working, you may have as few as three shots left. A full moon clip or a speedloader in a pouch will give you the extra chances you need to take the poor creature down.
When a cylinder-full just isn’t enough, make sure to carry a moon clip or speedloader pouch with you. You never know when you’ll need it!
