New Gun Owner? Don’t Make These Common Mistakes!

It can feel like an overwhelming process and daunting task to get through all the pre-work that should be done before buying your first gun. If you’re anything like us, the guys who brought you the Speed Beez speed loaders, you’re likely a little impatient. While there are a lot of things you should do when starting your process and getting your first gun, there are a few things you shouldn’t do, too! Today we’re looking at a couple easy mistakes that new gun owners often make.

  • Make sure you don’t pick the wrong caliber. Think about what the catalyst is for your gun purchase and what you’re going to be using your gun for after your purchase. The problem we see with most first-time gun owners is that they look for too little or too much gun, when just a bit more understanding will help them get a more appropriate result. For example, a self-defense choice may be better suited to a larger caliber than, say, a person looking for cheap family shooting.
  • Don’t pay too much for your first gun. We understand that you can easily be fooled into thinking that unless you buy the highest ticket item in a specific class, then you will somehow be failing or won’t have the result that you were looking for. Often times, great bargains can be found when you know what your minimum requirements are, and can adjust up or down based on what you are seeing in the process.
