We’ve seen it a hundred times in the movies…someone is out of bullets and someone tosses them a clip to slap into their semi-auto (it’s always a slap, isn’t it?) And when the good guy is behind the bar and needs to reload a revolver, he does it one cartridge at a time (this also gives him something to do with his hands while he’s dialoguing with the villain.) So tell me, where are the speedloaders?
We’ll, we’ve taken a look at the IMFDB (Internet Movie Firearms Database) to find the few instances where a speedloader is used in a movie.
Magnum Force: While Clint isn’t the best at showing every time he reloads, one time he does is in Magnum Force. It’s during a shooting challenge on the range, so I guess that certainly does fit in with what we’re suggesting here at Speed Beez!
Pale Rider: Clint again, this time in Pale Rider. He’s not technically using a speedloader, but is using spare cylinders in his Remington 1858 New Army in the same fashion as one.
Silence of the Lambs: Who would have thought that Jodie Foster would be one of the most accurate portrayers of the use of a speedloader on film? In Silence of the Lambs, she’s seen firing all six shots from her FBI-issued Smith & Wesson Model 13 and then quickly reloading with a speedloader. In a deleted scene she’s also seen sporting a speedloader pouch!
Hellboy and Hellboy 2: The Golden Army: Hey, who said we have to stay in reality?! In the second Hellboy movie, Hellboy is seen with a speedloader with glass bullets containing garlic, white oak shavings, and holy water. Be ready for anything! (Sadly, we do not offer speedloaders for his gun the Samaritan)
Well, speedloaders might not be the most in-fashion accessories in the movies, but we all know how important they can be in real life when you’re on the firing range. Find your favorite right here!
