The Speed Beez: The Ultimate 617 22LR Speed Loader

It’s hard to not love the Smith & Wesson 617 22LR revolver. It’s a beautiful, solid firearm that’s reliable and fun to shoot. So it’s no wonder that it’s one of our favorites and an inspiration for the creation of Speed Beez in the first place.

You might wonder why it’s more difficult to make a reliable 10-shot speedloader than it is to make your average speedloader. It all comes down to tolerance. In this case, tolerance means that everything has to be very precise and yet very forgiving at the same time. Why is this?

Imprecise: When you have your loading block in front of you and you reach out with your empty speedloader, you can’t be expected to match the speedloaders ports with each rim perfectly, especially in the lighting of your average range. In fact, you’re probably doing a lot of it by feel. At this point, the speedloader has to be imprecise enough to allow for you to be a little bit off and then grab the cartridges securely.

Precise: Of course, once the rounds are grabbed from your loading dock, you can’t just have the rounds flopping around. If you do, they won’t go straight into each cylinder opening, and one will always catch and prevent any of them from going in. Even if you’re holding the gun vertically and dropping in from a speedloader, if one round doesn’t drop properly you’re going to have to nudge it in yourself. Making sure each round is properly secured in the speedloader ensures they all drop at the same time and angle. With a 10-shot like the The Speed Bee 617 22 Speed Loader, this has to be as precise as possible using state of the art CNC machining, since there are more rounds going in at one time than with your average cylinder.

There’s a lot more to speedloaders than you might think, and that’s why it’s so important to find the right one for you. Whether you’re shooting the S&W 617 22lr or a 5-, 6-, 7-,8, or 9 shot, we’ve probably got a speedloader for you. Check them out right here!
